HEADING Misplaced Loyalty
By Napoleon Black

TEXT (1 John 2:17)The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. NIV
And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. NLTThe world and all its wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way out—but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity. Message COMMENTARYThe things that people crave based on their needs-based living, rather than on a cross-centred living, will end them up in disappointment. Their god is really their bellies. Their song is about their wellbeing, their success, their security.

Their interest in God extends only to that He is Jireh, Rapha etc. not so much that He is Jehovah - God and God alone. Their focus not that He is sovereign, not that His purposes supersedes their desires, their wants, or their wishes. Only a few take into account that His glory is more important than anything else.

Our desires for personal advance are often cut short and we are left wondering what happened. The only thing that matters is a life lived on the principles of eternity. That life is set for eternity

Something to Meditate on:
Do I see God only or largely only in terms of how God can meet my natural needs?

A decision I need to make
What evidence is there in my life that I am living from the eternal perspective?
